What Can Come from Looking Back?

May I ask you a question?

How often do you pull aside from all the busyness of life to spend time reflecting on God’s work in your life and the journey that has resulted? If this is not a habit, I encourage you to make it one. It is truly amazing to look back and see how all the twists and turns move us forward in His kingdom work.

If you’ll allow me, I’d like to take a few minutes to share a recent example of this very thing.

In recent weeks, I’ve felt this pressing toward the topic of Spiritual Formation. I’m sure you know what I’m talking about. Everywhere I turned, it seemed the topic was right in front of me. My thoughts continually turning toward it. It just would not let go!

I don’t know about you, but when something grabs hold of me like that, I’ve come to say, “Alright, Lord, you have my attention.”

After setting aside some time to be still and listen, I began dabbling. And there it was!

God had been leading me in this direction all along – one step at a time.

The books, the resources, the retreats, the workshops. It’s all Spiritual Formation.

Christian spiritual formation is the process in which believers cooperate with God and one another so that their souls are nourished, and their characters are transformed into Christlikeness.

I certainly didn’t see the pieces as they were being put together. But looking back, it all makes sense!

Now that I see it, I am so excited about moving forward from here, and I invite you to join me on the journey.

The website and Facebook page will remain. However, they will take on a new look as we focus on processes through which followers of Christ can be inwardly transformed in such a way that the character and acts of Jesus Christ naturally flow from them no matter when or where they are.

We pray that true Christlikeness will be established in the very depth of our being.
