It’s a fact.  Grandparents are incredibly important to their grandchildren.
According to Dr. Karl Pillemer of Cornell University, the relationship between grandparent and grandchild is second in emotional importance only to the relationship between parent and child.
Grandparents, it would appear, are positioned by God in a role of unique and profound influence.  His design for our role can be discovered in His Word.

Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.
Deuteronomy 6:4-9

He established a testimony in Jacob
and appointed a law in Israel,
which he commanded our fathers
    to teach to their children,
that the next generation might know them,
    the children yet unborn,
and arise and tell them to their children,
so that they should set their hope in God
and not forget the works of God,
    but keep his commandments;
and that they should not be like their fathers,
    a stubborn and rebellious generation,
a generation whose heart was not steadfast,
whose spirit was not faithful to God.
Psalm 78:5-8

One generation shall commend your works to another,
and shall declare your mighty acts.
On the glorious splendor of your majesty,
and on your wondrous works, I will meditate.
They shall speak of the might of your awesome deeds,
and I will declare your greatness.
They shall pour forth the fame of your abundant goodness
and shall sing aloud of your righteousness.
Psalm 145:4-7

Our unique role was designed by the God of the universe.  It is He who calls us to have an active role in the lives of our grandchildren, to disciple them, and to influence them and those of multiple generations spiritually.
It’s a unique role.  It is a role of tremendous proportions.  To do it well, requires that we be INTENTIONAL about it.
It is our desire to empower you in this “GRAND” role.  We pray you will find resources to support and encourage you along the way.  May you be blessed as you INTENTIONALLY invest in the generations.
